Boy

He sits at his desk and taps and drums and drops his pencil on purpose. He's super smart and Phillipino and plays the drums. He's quiet and so shy. He likes video games and Futurama and pizza. He has a girly calculator and he's trustworthy (or so it's hoped). He's never had a girl like him before and it's happening and he's absolutely terrified.

Expecially when she comes over with his sister, who she also likes, in a most friendly way. They play video games (which she has never done) and there's human contanct when she lays her head on his shoulder. It is a thrill for her and maybe for him.

During dinner, he twists a can completely around and around and around til he breaks it apart.

The sister, the sister's boyfriend, he, and she laugh a lot.

At nine, she leaves because she can only drive til nine. She announces her departure and says good bye, followed by the sister: her friend, who she loves like a sister.
She whispers, "Should I have hugged him?"
"YES!"

She runs and jumps on him, hugging him quickly because in truth she's just as terrified. And outside the sister laughs.

She's breathless.
"Do you think there's something there then?"
"He smiled. And he's never twisted a can before. I think he was nervous."
Confession: "So was I."

And she knows as she's going home that maybe there is a chance for this to be continued...
